Rapid assessment of Angola’s health information system

A 10 day rapid assessment of Angola’s health information system was conducted with WHO AFRO to identify improvement priorities. The assessment evaluated system availability, functionality, and performance in health data management, involving discussions with key stakeholders and reviewing policy and strategic documents. Various ministries and international partners contributed to inform a new strategic plan for the health information system.

HIS Strenghthening

Developed a harmonized national indicator dictionary across programs, optimized DHIS-2 by incorporating WHO standard modules, established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the routine health information and reporting, strengthened death reporting systems with ICD-11 integration to enhance the accuracy and reliability of mortality data, and provided training for the national team.

Maternal Health Tracking System for ANC and Postnatal Care

A system was developed for San Jose Hospital in Bogotá to comprehensively track maternal health, including activities such as registering ANC and postnatal patients, recording demographics and medical history, tracking visits, and documenting pregnancy risk factors, lab results, and immunizations.

     The Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) system in Namibia utilized three tailored questionnaires for individuals, healthcare providers, and community groups to capture comprehensive data on healthcare services. The system gathered insights into service logistics, accessibility, quality, and community satisfaction.

     The Community Surveillance System for capturing symptoms enables proactive monitoring of health threats by allowing community health workers to report symptoms observed in their communities. The system gathers and analyzes data, displays trends on dashboards, and alerts health officials to unusual patterns.

Community Health Data System for Omnicare Trust

This project focuses on developing a comprehensive data collection and reporting system for Omnicare Trust in Namibia to strengthen primary health care delivery in underserved communities through their mobile clinic van.

National Youth Engagement Tracking System for Namibia

The national system for the Ministry of Youth and National Services in Namibia was developed to track youth engagement in development programs, including courses in community engagement and entrepreneurial skills, as well as credit schemes and kit distribution. It managed enrollments, monitored course progress, documented credit disbursements, and tracked kit usage. Additionally, it recorded youth who established businesses post-training and assessed their progress, enabling impact evaluations and ongoing support.

ART System Implementation in Correctional Facilities

Implemented an Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) system across all correctional facilities nationwide, allowing individuals in custody to receive HIV treatment directly within facility clinics rather than being referred to external health centers. An ETL process was used to extract and import records from health facilities into the newly implemented correctional facility system, ensuring continuity of care.

EWARS (Early Warning, Alert, and Response System), developed by WHO, was a surveillance tool used in South Sudan for detecting and responding to disease outbreaks, particularly in emergencies. This consultancy aimed to support South Sudan’s transition from EWARS to DHIS2, creating a more comprehensive and integrated health information system through the ETL process.
